Destiny have announced that their weekly heroic strikes will soon incorporate matchmaking.

This will form part of the patch that is due to be released shortly. The developer had this to say:

“We wanted the Weekly Heroics to be a challenge that pushed you and your buddies, but what we observed was that these strikes don’t demand the same cooperation of a cohesive pre-made group,” design lead M.E. Chung said.

“The overwhelming community response was such that many players didn’t have the numbers on their friends list to experience the activity on a weekly basis.”

Don’t expect this feature to become available on Nightfall or Raids as the team element for these mode is more demanding and requires a pretty planned group. You don’t want that one random letting your team down and sending you back to orbit do you?

Bungir has promised however it is looking into ways to make getting into raids with other players much easier.

There’s a few other tweaks with the patch which are worthy of note including:

– xur always bringing his exotic engrams
– improved map rotation for fireteams taking on strikes with reduction in repetition.
– iron banner is getting new bounties and enhanced map rotation also.

Expect the update to land before Feb is a forgotten memory.
