Insomniac games have finally revealed more information regarding Xbox One Exclusive Sunset Overdrive. Due for a release this year, insomniac are hailing this as the game they have building up to for the past 20 years! Thats a huge statement and looking at the gameplay video shown you’d have to agree it looks pretty stunning.
Up until now we have only had the CG trailer from E3 2013 to look at and try and uncover what this game is all about. Now though a new 4 minute gameplay video from the developers have explained the key points around Sunset Overdrive.
There is a big focus on traversal and parkour ensuring agility and the ability to hop quickly across the game world is utilised by the player as the main form of movement in game. Utilising such movement is the method behind unlocking overcharge and special AMP abilities. AMP abilities are to sunset overdrive to what ordinance kit is to Titanfall. There will be over 50 to choose however and that should add plenty variety to how you approach the game. From Nuclear explosions to twisters and baseball bats its a pretty varied array of options.
The story is a about you taking down an evil corporate goliath called Fizzco and yes you guessed it they are the ones behind the concept and production of the overcharge soda which has caused its consumers to change into mutants and roam the streets hunting you down.
There are factions also within the game which will populate the city such as some samurai wannabes and the fargaths just some geeks who like to rein act real life battles. There is also a vast array of enemies that will kill you state insomniac and thats all part of the fun. Insomniac are also promising NEXT GEN respawning! What exactly that is beyond different cut scenes upon regen is yet to be clear.
Visually this game certainly stands out it is has plenty of colour which provides the pop and certainly looks worthy of a next gen title on Xbox One. This is a game I am hugely excited for it and has the potential to be a hugely successful franchise on Xbox One for the years to come. Check out the full video reveal below:
