Sony have announced with their CES 2015 Keynote that their playstation 4 console has now sold over 18.5 million units!
That’s a staggering figure and puts on pace to overtake the PS2 sales figures which is no mean feat. The sales figures are a result of a successful holiday period with 4.1 million units being sold through retail.
Whether or not this is a performance that will see if retake top spot in Decembers NPDs is yet to be seen.
Sony were also keen to dish out some other stats notably that PSPlus now has 10.9 million subscribers on its platform. That’s a whole lot of free games being handed out but with this number of paying subscribers should Sony now be shouting about how it is boosting network infrastructure after a rocky Xmas on PSN?
Sony honcho Andrew House had this to say on the results “We are absolutely delighted that so many customers around the globe have continued to select PS4 as their console of choice throughout this holiday season, We will continue to reinforce and deliver additional value on PS4 as the best place to play”
Looks Sony are setting themselves up for a much needed massive 2015.
