Nippon Ichi Software’s Makai Wars, which was first unveiled in 2004 and has been feared dead, is finally going to see the light of day. It’s not coming to any of Sony’s platforms as originally planned, however, and instead will release for iOS and Android.
Featuring Asagi as the main character, the strategy RPG combines Disgaea and Yuru Dorashiru. It was initially announced as a PSP title at E3 2004, and a year later at the Tokyo Game Show 2005, we were told that it’ll be releasing for the PS3. Since then, there’s been no news of the game, leading many to believe that it was canned for good.
If you were hoping to see Makai Wars on PlayStation platforms then don’t lose hope just yet. According to Siliconera, Nippon Ichi President Sohei Niikawa has said that the developer will eventually look into a console release but didn’t share any further details.
